The District Administration of Kangpokpi, in partnership with the Integrated Rural Management Association (IRMA), has launched a 15-day mobile vehicle campaign titled “Protect Childhood, Stop Child Marriage.” Initiated from the Deputy Commissioner’s Complex, the campaign was flagged off by Lamminlal Simte, MCS, marking the start of an outreach effort that is part of a broader 100-day initiative aimed at enhancing social safeguards in the district, originally started in December last year.
Project Coordinator Thangboilen emphasized IRMA’s dedication over the last 6–7 years to combat child marriage, advocating for a united approach with local church pastors, temple priests, and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to achieve a district free from child marriage. This campaign coincides with a larger national initiative covering 250 districts throughout various states and Union Territories.
Thanks were conveyed by IRMA officials to the District Administration, the Superintendent of Police, and local police for their continued support. They underscored their commitment to act promptly in case of any child marriage incidents and encouraged public engagement with the authorities. The campaign aims to reach every part of the district to educate the community on legal protections and resources, with a particular focus on the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act (PCMA) and child helpline services.
