A one-day Awareness-cum-Udyam Registration Drive was conducted at Kakching Wairi Sabal Leikai Community Hall, organized by the District Industries Centre under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) as part of the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Scheme. The event featured prominent speakers including Waikhom Birendra Singh, the Chief Guest and Director of RSETI Kakching, Soibam Nabakunja Singh, the President and General Manager of the District Industries Centre for Thoubal and Kakching districts, and Guest of Honour Sapam Lalhari Singh from the DIT. Oinam Deben Singh, Development Officer from the District Industries Centre, served as a resource person for about 120 participating entrepreneurs.

The drive focused on individuals engaged in MSME activities in Kakching District who have yet to register on the Udyam Portal. An upcoming registration drive is scheduled for March 23 and March 24, 2026, at Langmeidong Panchayat Community Hall and Elangkhangpokpi Makha Leikai, respectively, from 10 am to 3:30 pm on both days. Participants are required to present photocopies of their Aadhaar (front and back), PAN card, the first page of their bank passbook, an Aadhaar-linked mobile number, email ID, and the name and address of their unit.

The Udyam registration confers various benefits such as formal recognition, which enhances credibility and trust among stakeholders including banks, customers, and suppliers. It also facilitates access to credit and capital from financial institutions, eligibility for government schemes and initiatives, and priority in governmental procurement processes, including exemptions from certain fees. This initiative aims to support and bolster the MSME sector in the region, encouraging greater participation and registration among local entrepreneurs.
