On the occasion of the International Day of the Dentist, the Indian Army organized a comprehensive medical and dental camp at Zalenphai village in the Churachandpur district, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to community welfare and humanitarian outreach. This initiative aimed to enhance grassroots healthcare delivery while fostering preventive health awareness, ultimately aiming to reinforce civil-military relations in the area. The camp showcased a collaborative effort, merging civil and military healthcare resources, featuring participation from both Indian Army medical and dental specialists as well as civil healthcare professionals.
The medical team included Dr. T Thanglenlal DS, a Medical Officer from the Primary Health Centre in Sialkot, and an Army Dental Officer, who provided extensive healthcare services to the local community. Services offered included oral screenings, dental check-ups, free medical consultations, routine diagnostic tests, distribution of essential medicines, and health counseling for villagers of all age groups. Emphasizing preventive care, an awareness lecture on dental health was delivered, highlighting the significance of early detection of dental issues and the necessity for prompt medical attention.
The interaction between Army medical and dental officers and local residents was characterized by a friendly and reassuring atmosphere, where the officers offered personalized advice on healthier lifestyle practices and the risk factors associated with lifestyle-related health issues. The camp saw enthusiastic participation from around 216 villagers, including students from The Living Water School, who appreciated the joint efforts of the Indian Army and civil medical authorities in improving access to quality healthcare in remote and underserved areas.
