Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM), along with its affiliated organizations, convened a meeting to plan the Hun–Thadou Cultural Festival 2026, which is recognized as a State (Restricted) Holiday in Manipur and celebrated annually on April 7. The meeting culminated in a unanimous decision to host the 8th Edition of the festival on April 7 in Imphal, with the venue to be determined by the organizing committee, as per TIM’s press release.

An Organising Committee has been formed, chaired by Nehkholal Thadou, with Jamkholun Thadou as Vice Chairman and Michael Lamjathang Thadou as Secretary-cum-Treasurer. This committee has the authority to co-opt additional members to ensure comprehensive organization. The 2026 festival will uphold the theme: “My Culture, My Identity” and the sub-theme: “Upholding Our Identity, Shaping Our Destiny.” This year’s event marks a return to Manipur after two years of celebrations held in Delhi in 2024 and Guwahati in 2025 due to prevailing circumstances.

TIM emphasized that returning to Imphal symbolizes renewed hope, divine blessings, and a stronger affirmation of the Thadou community’s indigenous identity in Manipur. The organization has called upon all indigenous communities within Manipur to provide their support and active participation for the success of the festival edition in Imphal.

The Hun–Thadou Cultural Festival commemorates the sacred Hun season, a significant time for thanksgiving upon the germination of seeds, accompanied by prayers for a bountiful harvest. This vibrant festival embodies themes of renewal, unity, gratitude, and optimism for the future. Further updates regarding the festival’s detailed program, confirmed venue, and additional arrangements will be provided by the organizing committee as they materialize.
