A combined team of security forces and the forest department, along with an Executive Magistrate, destroyed approximately 10 acres of poppy cultivation in the Suangkong Hill range under the Behiang Police Station in Churachandpur district. Materials such as salt, urea, and sprayers, typically used for poppy cultivation, were also destroyed, according to a statement from Manipur Police. Additionally, another team dismantled around 55 acres of poppy cultivation in S. Khonomphai and Denglen villages under the Saikul Police Station, Kangpokpi district, destroying four temporary huts, fertilizer bags, spray pumps, pipes, and herbicides found at the site. In a separate incident, the police intercepted two unregistered Gypsy vehicles in the Pallel Maning Leikai area under Pallel Police Station, Kakching district, arresting four individuals identified as Darshung (24), ST Koko (27), Kophamhring (23), and HP Mono (30), all from Zaphou Bazar, Chandel district. The police seized 219 bottles of JO-Ei Soju, 685 cans of Chang beer, and the unregistered vehicles. Security forces have continued search operations in vulnerable areas and ensured the movement of 144 vehicles carrying essential items along National Highway 37, implementing strict security protocols in sensitive locations to facilitate safe travel.
