Security forces and police conducted a number of successful operations in Churachandpur and Thoubal districts, leading to the seizure of a sizable cache of guns and ammunition as part of a major crackdown on illegal armaments in Manipur. Churachandpur Operations: Security personnel found a significant amount of weapons, ammunition, and tactical equipment during a search operation in Dampi Ridge, close to the Songphel general area, under the jurisdiction of Churachandpur Police Station.

14 single-barrel rifles, one magazine-equipped pistol, one Pompi (improvised firearm), nine IEDs, eight Pompi ammunition, twenty-three 12 bore cartridges, ten live.303 rounds, one live 9mm round, three blank.303 rounds, three helmets, and two Boafeng radio communication sets are among the items found. Three domestic single-barrel rifles and one domestic handgun were retrieved by Manipur Police in a different operation conducted in Buallian village under the jurisdiction of the same police station. Security officers also confiscated three single-barrel rifles, four 12-bore cartridges, one Pompi handgun, four Pompi bullets, one live 7.62mm round, two empty 5.56mm cases, and four tear smoke munitions in Tollen village and the surrounding areas.

Thoubal District Operation: Four Self-Loading Rifles (SLRs) and eight SLR magazines were retrieved by Manipur Police from the Langathel Hangoipat area under Khongjom Police Station. These recoveries are a part of security authorities’ stepped-up efforts to stop illegal arms smuggling and guarantee peace and stability in Manipur’s conflict-prone areas. To determine the provenance of these weapons and the organizations involved, authorities have opened investigations. In the days ahead, there will probably be more operations.
