In a powerful show of unity and hope, the Christian community in Kangpokpi, Manipur celebrated Easter Sunday with full devotion, marking the resurrection of Jesus Christ with prayers, hymns, and heartfelt traditions. From early morning, church bells echoed across Kangpokpi District Headquarters as worshippers dressed in white and pastels gathered at churches including Kangpokpi Christian Church, Chongthu Baptist Churches Association Centre Church, and the TBA Centre. The services featured soul-stirring sermons, hymns, and prayers, highlighting Easter’s message of life triumphing over death.

Despite ongoing tensions in the region, the community’s spirit remained strong. Youth groups from churches like KBC Centre and Kangpokpi Independent Baptist Church distributed decorated Easter eggs symbolizing renewal and joy. A touching tradition saw believers visiting the cemetery at dawn, reenacting Christ’s resurrection through symbolic acts and singing hymns like “Christ is Risen, Hallelujah.”

Though communal hymn-singing at noon was cancelled for the second year due to unrest, celebrations continued in homes and churches. At the Christian Revival Church, the day ended with a grand Easter feast and a Lenkhom hymnal session that carried on until late afternoon.
