Honda India Foundation (HIF) has embarked on a transformative journey with the launch of “Project Buniyaad – Aathmanirbharta Ka Aadhar,” a strategic initiative aimed at fostering self-reliance through employment in the hospitality sector across Northeast India. In collaboration with the Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission and Visan Foundation, HIF is pioneering this endeavor, designed to address unemployment among marginalized youth. With HIF as the principal funding partner, complemented by the State Government’s infrastructure and mobilization support, and Visan Foundation’s expertise in training, the project aims to facilitate 100% job placement for youth from the region’s underserved communities within leading hotels and hospitals.

Mr. Vinay Dhingra, Trustee of Honda India Foundation, underscored the organization’s commitment to inclusivity and societal advancement. He articulated, “Project Buniyaad exemplifies our dedication to empowering the youth of Manipur, offering boundless opportunities for growth and development.” This initiative aligns seamlessly with Honda’s corporate philosophy of “Respect for the Individual” and its overarching mission to be a socially responsible entity.

Despite the challenges plaguing the hospitality sector, exacerbated by global crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic, Project Buniyaad remains resolute in its mission. Through a meticulously crafted two-month training program in Hospitality Management, administered by Visan Foundation and endorsed by the Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council, unemployed youth will acquire the requisite skills for prosperous careers in the industry. With an ambitious target of training over 550 youth in the Northeastern states, Project Buniyaad signifies a beacon of hope, promising economic empowerment and upward mobility for marginalized communities.
