Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, along with the First Lady, visited the Headquarters 26 Sector, Assam Rifles at Pallel in Kakching district and flagged in the team who participated the National Integration Tour 2025–2026. The 23-member team comprising of the Civil Society Organization (CSO) leaders and members of Self-Help Groups during the 15-day tour, visited Ahmedabad, Delhi, Guwahati and Shillong. Maj. Gen. Gaurav Sharma, IG AR (S), Brigd. Robeen Chatterjee, Commander, 26 Sector, AR, welcomed the Governor upon his arrival at the garrison premises. The 23 participants, comprising 13 men and 10 women, undertook the journey which provided them with first-hand exposure to India’s cultural heritage, democratic institutions and developmental milestones. Their itinerary included visits to the Kohima War Memorial, the Statue of Unity, Atal Bridge, Dandi Kutir and the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad, where they also interacted with REACHA participants.
In New Delhi, the delegation visited India Gate and other prominent national institutions, while engaging with distinguished dignitaries including Droupadi Murmu, President of India; Nityanand Rai, Minister of State for Home Affairs; Lt Gen Bhavnish Kumar, General Officer Commanding, Delhi Area; Acharya Devvrat, Governor of Gujarat; Maj Gen Gaurav Bagga, General Officer Commanding, 11 Infantry Division, Ahmedabad; Maj Gen Jai Singh Bainsla, Additional Director General, Assam Rifles; and Chandrashekhar H. Vijayashankar, Governor of Meghalaya.
While interacting with the team members, the Governor appreciated the initiative taken up by the Assam Rifles. The Governor stated that such tours help people understand the country’s diversity, pluralism and cultural unity, and foster a stronger sense of national integration. Referring to the vision of the Prime Minister for “Viksit Bharat 2047”, he emphasized that citizens should strive to connect with every nook and corner of the nation. He appealed to the participants to carry forward the message of national unity and harmony across the State. The participants also shared their experiences and expressed gratitude to the Assam Rifles for organizing such an exposure visit. Earlier, the Governor interacted with trainees undergoing skill development training at the Sector Headquarters and encouraged them to make the best use of the opportunities provided for their growth and self-reliance.
Later, the Governor visited Tengnoupal District Headquarters where he was received by the DC and SP. They briefed the Governor on various administrative and security-related issues in the district. The Governor and the First Lady planted saplings at the Deputy Commissioner’s office complex under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign.
