The Central Forest Division in Manipur organized a capacity-building program and mock drill for frontline forest staff at the Forest Office Complex, Mantripukhri, aiming to bolster enforcement and implementation of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, the Indian Forest Act, 1927, and the Manipur Forest Rules, 1972. The event featured R.K. Amarjit Singh (IFS), Conservator of Forests, as the chief guest, who highlighted the responsibilities of foresters and the need for conservation discipline.

Singh addressed current challenges facing forests, such as encroachment, illegal extraction, and habitat degradation, stressing the importance of law enforcement, community engagement, and inter-departmental coordination. A comprehensive mock drill showcased procedures for managing illegal encroachment, wildlife offenses, tree felling, and earth excavation within forest areas, focusing on real-time responses and legal compliance.

The drill underscored the significance of maintaining case records, ensuring personal safety, and fostering teamwork among staff. The Central Forest Division reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the effectiveness of its frontline staff, ensuring the protection of forest resources, and upholding the ecological integrity of the state through stringent law enforcement and capacity-building initiatives.
