The Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group), a banned organization under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, has publicly accused former Manipur MLA Md Fajur Rahim of being implicated in a drug trafficking operation that involved transporting illegal substances to Bangladesh via an ambulance sanctioned by the Congress party in Manipur in 2021. The vehicle in question traversed Manipur, Assam, and Meghalaya.
The Military Council of the KCP (PWG) alleged that Rahim exploited his political connections to facilitate his drug trafficking activities. His associate, Hefaj Uddin, was apprehended on July 22, 2023, in connection with a drugs seizure that reportedly involved substances valued at around Rs 5 crore found in a Maruti Swift Dzire vehicle with the registration number AS02 CP0942. A case linked to this incident is currently progressing through the legal system at the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge, Karbi Anglong.
Additionally, the KCP (PWG) disclosed that a separate case was initiated regarding the interception of heroin, weighing 207 grams and valued at approximately Rs 14 crore, as well as 50,000 YABA tablets, equivalent to about 4.8 kgs. This contraband was seized by Guwahati Police from another ambulance with the registration number MN03 C 0037, destined for Bangladesh after being transported from Manipur through Meghalaya and Assam. The arrested individual associated with this case, identified as Mirajaul Islam (also known as Mirajaul Ali) from Rajabala, Meghalaya, was claimed to be the operator in this particular drug trafficking episode.
According to the KCP (PWG), the ambulance relevant to these accusations was inaugurated on May 21, 2021, during a Congress event in Imphal, commemorating the 30th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
