The Mega Sundays on Cycle – International Women’s Day Special was held at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal, organized by the Sports Authority of India, North-East Regional Centre (SAI NERC) as part of the Fit India Movement. The event attracted over a thousand participants including athletes, students, dignitaries, and members of the public, emphasizing fitness and active living in celebration of International Women’s Day. Key attendees included Shri Konthoujam Govindas, the Hon’ble Home Minister of Manipur, various officials from the state sports administration, and notable sportspersons such as Padmashree and Arjuna Awardee Smt. Nameirakpam Kunjarani Devi and Smt. Laishram Sarita Devi. Special invitees also included distinguished individuals from different sectors. This initiative aimed to underscore the significance of sports and fitness in empowering communities and fostering participation of women and youth in physical activities. The event was a precursor to the Fit India Carnival, set for March 9 and 10, 2026, at Hapta Kangjeibung, which will feature various fitness sessions, activity zones, traditional sports, and cultural performances for the public.
