On Wednesday night, shortly after Y Khemchand was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Manipur, he chaired the first Cabinet meeting of the newly formed government at the Chief Minister’s bungalow. This meeting took place about an hour post-inauguration and included notable participants such as Chief Secretary Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel, Deputy Chief Minister L. Dikho, and newly sworn-in ministers Govindas Konthoujam and K. Loken Singh. An official statement confirmed that this inaugural Cabinet meeting signified the commencement of collective decision-making and governance by the newly constituted State Cabinet. Additionally, it was announced that four political parties have pledged unconditional support to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), namely the National People’s Party (6 members), Naga People’s Front (5 members), Janata Dal-United (1 member), and two independent members, further solidifying the government’s coalition strength.
