After a significant seizure in Bengaluru, former Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has called on authorities to step up their efforts against narcotics trafficking. Two ladies, Laljamluvai from Manipur and Lalthangliani from Mizoram, were recently found in possession of seven kilogrammes of cocaine, estimated at Rs 14.69 crore, by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence. The northeast’s susceptibility to drug smuggling routes has come back into attention as a result of the bust.
This arrest, according to Singh, demonstrates that the North East is still an important narcotics conduit. He underlined the operation’s wider ramifications, pointing out that such actions highlight the pervasive danger of drug trafficking to all of our residents nationwide. Singh emphasised the significance of consistent, coordinated effort and urged agencies to further up their campaign on narcotics networks.
