Lui-Ngai-Ni 2026, a seed sowing festival of the Naga community, was celebrated on Sunday at the Ukhrul Headquarters Ground, organized by the State Level Organizing Committee under the United Naga Council, themed “Cultural Renaissance.” The event featured Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio as Chief Guest and Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho as Guest of Honour. Dr. Rio emphasized the festival’s purpose as a means of remembrance of forefathers and a call for unity, reflection, and faith before growth and abundance.
Losii Dikho called for ongoing peace advocacy within the Naga community, urging non-violence and unity among tribes. The celebration included the blessing and distribution of seeds to the 21 Naga tribe presidents and the lighting of the Lui-Ngai-Ni torch by the Rongmei tribe, winners of the fire-lighting competition. The festivities showcased cultural performances including traditional wrestling by the Poumai Naga tribe, dances by the Yimkhiung Tribal Council, and other vibrant displays.
The inaugural function was attended by several MLAs from the region, underscoring the event’s significance and communal involvement.
