Noting that a large number of drug users in the state are facing massive human rights violations from various quarters, a prominent drug user welfare organization on the occasion of International Human Rights Day on Sunday urged the government to investigate such cases.
On this day “we highlight the alarming and widespread human rights abuses faced by drug users in Manipur,” the Manipur Users Collective (MUC) said in a statement.
“We pay our deepest respect to those departed souls during this current crisis since May 3, 2023 and share our condolences with their immediate families,” read the statement signed by the group’s convener M Jogesh. It called on both local and national authorities to investigate cases of abuse.
