The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) commemorated the one-year anniversary of the Manipur crisis as “365 DAYS OF CHIN-KUKI NARCO-TERRORIST AGGRESSION IN MANIPUR,” urging the Indian government to cease its practice of categorizing terrorists as “good” or “bad.” The program, held at Iboyaima Shumangleela Shnglen in Palace Compound under Imphal East district, included a one-day public meeting during which four resolutions were passed.

Firstly, COCOMI demanded the immediate prioritization of unresolved issues of illegal immigration by implementing the National Register of Citizens (NRC) to effectively resolve the crisis. Secondly, they called for the acknowledgment and recognition by the Government of India of the issue of narco-terrorism and its severe ramifications on ethnic harmony, economy, and ecology faced by the indigenous people of Manipur. Thirdly, COCOMI urged the Government of India to immediately abrogate the Suspension of Operations Agreement in alignment with the decision taken by the government of Manipur. Lastly, they emphasized the necessity for the Indian government to stop categorizing terrorist groups as “good” or “bad” merely to serve vested geopolitical and internal security interests, thereby victimizing indigenous civilian populations.

Speaking to the media at the sidelines of the ceremony, COCOMI spokesperson Khuraijam Athouba stated that the committee aims to revisit the incidents of the past year and address the injustices faced by the indigenous people of Manipur. They also released a booklet highlighting critical aspects of the crisis, emphasizing that it transcends communal violence and ethnic clashes, instead representing a geopolitical ramification. Athouba revealed insights from a book titled “Zalengam,” authored by a President of the Kuki National Organisation (KNO), which exposes the agenda of the Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists to achieve Kuki Lebensraum. Furthermore, Athouba accused the Government of India of intentionally neglecting to resolve the ongoing crisis in Manipur.
