The District Administration of Churachandpur held a full dress rehearsal for the 77th Republic Day celebrations at Public Ground, Hiangtam Lamka. The event commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag, followed by a march-past that featured various contingents led by parade commander Ravi Gangwar, IPS. A total of 31 contingents participated, categorized into A, B, and C. Category A included the Border Security Force (BSF), Special Task Command (STC), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), India Reserve Battalion (IRB), Civil Police, Ex-Servicemen, Village Defence Force (VDF), and the BSF Band Party. Category B comprised NCC contingents from Rayburn High School, Churachandpur College, Bethany Christian College, and JNV Tuinom. Additionally, Category C included participants from various local institutions including Donbosco Higher Secondary Government School, JNV Tuinom, Gandhi Memorial Government High School, Happy Heart School, Hope Baptist Academy, New Lamka Upper Primary School, and Vimala Raina Government High School, along with NSS from Churachandpur College.
The chief guest for the Republic Day celebration on January 26 will be Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar S, IAS, who is also set to unfurl the national flag, take salute from the march-past contingents, and address the public. He will inspect the stalls established by various departments, followed by a colorful cultural program and prize distribution. The rehearsal was attended by officials from the district administration, District Level Officers (DLOs), and other dignitaries.
