A three-phase strategy has been unveiled by Prashant Kumar Singh, the chief secretary of Manipur, to guarantee the safe return and rehabilitation of internally displaced people impacted by ethnic strife. In order to enable IDPs to return to their former homes and rebuild their lives and livelihoods by May 3, 2023, a three-phase plan has been devised, he said, adding that everyone is working toward that goal and that it would soon be accomplished. It will happen soon, he said, adding that everyone is working toward that goal, which is the most essential thing. By May 3, 2023, a three-phase plan has been created to enable IDPs to return to their native homes and reconstruct their lives and means of subsistence.
Residents have already begun to return to Churachandpur and Kangpokpi, where the Chief Secretary stated he has evaluated the situation. He clarified that the first refund phase will begin in July, the second in October, and the third by December 2025. He said that financial assistance of Rs. 1.3 lakh + Rs. 1.7 lakh per household would be provided for the roughly 8,000 dwellings that were damaged during the conflict. Families who were forced to leave their homes due to the violence but whose houses are still standing will also receive financial aid to enable them move back and start over. The 10,000 IDPs who cannot return to their old settlements by December 2025 will have an alternative in the form of prefabricated dwellings constructed by the government.
