The Central Working Committee (CWC) of the Tangkhul Naga Foothills’ Organisation (TNFO) has urgently called for the dismantling of an illegal bunker allegedly built by the Kuki Liberation Army (KLA) near Sinakeithei village. This area, once a humanitarian corridor established in 2019, has transformed into a zone of fear due to armed presence and constant gunfire, endangering the residents and disrupting their daily lives. The CWC has condemned the KLA for violating the Suspension of Operations (So0) agreement, emphasizing that repeated gunfire since March 15, 2026, directly threatens civilian safety and livability. The villagers report being unable to access agricultural lands and livestock due to the perilous environment.

Despite warnings from the Village Authority to the local regiment, there has been no action to remove the bunker, exacerbating the sense of insecurity. The CWC demands immediate government intervention, stating that inaction would be seen as gross negligence, and any resulting incidents would rest on government authorities. Furthermore, the Sinakeithel Village Authority reports that Kuki militants are encroaching on the village, creating checkpoints and restricting movement, even targeting uninvolved individuals. Intense routine firing has caused psychological distress among villagers, with significant incidents disrupting community activities. Despite surveillance efforts by security forces, no bunkers have been confirmed in areas residents have pointed out, raising concerns about the effectiveness of current security measures.
