The 74th birth anniversary of poet A.K. Seram was commemorated at Bhanubil, Bangladesh, organized by the Manipuri Library & Research Centre. A significant moment of the event was the presentation of the “Leichombam Rajendro Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award 2026” to Yaiskul Khwairakpam from Manipur. The ceremony took place at Luxmi Narayan Mandap, where 42 literary works of A.K. Seram were showcased, alongside the release of two books: “Thammoigi Manin” by Ayekpam Anju and “Bangladeshki Leimaida” by Umabati Athokpam.

Prominent figures in literature attended the gathering, including Khoirom Kamini of BANSAS, Rakesh Naorem from PAWF, Laiphrakpam Ibungohal Shyamal, L. Prashanta Kumar, and Chingtham Sangeeta. Ayekpam Anju, the founder of the library, presided over the event and delivered the keynote address, emphasizing Seram’s extensive contributions to the Manipuri language, literature, and culture in Bangladesh. She highlighted that more than 40 works of Seram have been published and recognized through various awards.

Rakesh Naorem noted Seram’s importance within the Manipuri/Meitei community globally and acknowledged his endeavors to promote Manipuri literature, pledging the transliteration and publication of three of Seram’s selected works into Meitei Mayek script as a tribute. Other attendees also honored Seram’s lifelong dedication to advancing Manipuri literature and his significant effect on society.
