A combined team comprising security forces and the Forest Department undertook a significant operation against illegal poppy cultivation, resulting in the destruction of approximately 65 acres of poppy fields at Govok hill range, situated within the jurisdiction of Chakpikarong Police Station in Chandel district. In addition to the fields, two temporary huts, various poppy pods, and poppy seeds were also eradicated during this operation. Concurrently, on the same day, another combined effort by security forces, the Forest Department, and an Executive Magistrate led to the destruction of about 30 acres of poppy fields at the Sadim hills range under the authority of Senapati Police Station in Senapati district. This coordinated action underscores the ongoing efforts to combat the cultivation of illicit narcotics in the region.
