A coordinated operation conducted by a combined team of security forces, the forest department, the Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB), and an Executive Magistrate successfully destroyed approximately 22 acres of illicit poppy cultivation in the Dampi area, under the jurisdiction of the Sangaikot Police Station in Churachandpur district. The authorities not only razed the poppy fields but also burnt three huts located at the site and seized ten samples of poppy plants, including pods. This follow-up operation came after a prior initiative on January 16, where a joint team comprising security personnel and the Forest Department, with support from the district administration, eradicated about 10 acres of similar poppy plantations in the Suangkong hill range of the same district. The operation in the Behiang police station area was supervised by an Executive Magistrate, signifying a robust and intensified drive by the administration to combat drug cultivation and dismantle the associated supply chain tied to the illegal narcotics trade. Furthermore, authorities confiscated and destroyed various materials utilized in poppy farming such as salt, urea, spraying equipment, and other cultivation tools discovered during the operation.
