In a commendable display of compassion, personnel from Veng Battalion donated five units of blood to a critically ill patient at the District Hospital in Churachandpur. The patient, a 47-year-old man from S Khomunum village, was admitted with hypertension, chronic kidney disease, abdominal pain, and elevated liver enzymes. Upon evaluation, doctors discovered he was severely anaemic with dangerously low haemoglobin levels, necessitating an urgent transfusion. In response to an emergency call from hospital authorities, five soldiers from Veng Battalion voluntarily donated blood, facilitating an immediate transfusion that stabilized the patient’s condition during a life-threatening situation. The hospital staff and the patient’s family expressed immense gratitude for this timely and noble gesture, recognizing the decisive role played by the Assam Rifles personnel in saving his life. This act of humanity exemplifies the commitment of the force to the welfare of the local community, highlighting their dedication to support residents in critical times beyond their operational duties.
