On Thursday, Assam Rifles celebrated Army Day 2026 with a range of heartfelt community outreach activities across Manipur, highlighting its role as a reliable partner to locals. The day honors the landmark 1949 moment when India’s first homegrown Commander-in-Chief took charge of the army, standing for dedication, order, and national spirit.In Bongjang Village, Tengnoupal District, troops teamed up with local young people for a fun volleyball game. Villagers cheered on the 28 players in this friendly yet fierce matchup, which built bonds, teamwork, and respect all around, according to a statement from IGAR(S). Over in Kangpokpi District, the ‘Day with Company Commander’ program brought a motivating talk to Sajal Kuki Village. It reached 83 kids with advice on job paths in the military and beyond, sparking ideas of love for country, grit, and meaningful goals.
At Keithelmanbi Garrison, experts from the Indian Red Cross Society in Imphal West District led a session on first aid and CPR, complete with hands-on demos. Led by Dr. Koijam Arun Kanta, Dr. Bankim Thokchom, Ng. Aider, and H. Roshnikanta, they equipped 80 attendees with key skills to handle crises confidently. In Ukhrul District’s Kachai Village, at Alpha School, Assam Rifles shared insights on joining the armed forces and security roles. Troops covered enlistment steps, qualifications, and the importance of duty and honesty with the students. These events drew over 190 people—soldiers, kids, teens, and residents. By connecting with youth, promoting peace, and pointing them toward success, such efforts pave the way for stronger communities, stability, and shared progress. The activities reaffirmed Assam Rifles’ steadfast dedication to unity and growth in the true Army Day ethos.
