Assam Rifles has launched a month-long Vocational Carpentry and Artisan Training Programme in Humine Thana Village, Kamjong District, as part of Operation Sadbhavana. This initiative aims to enhance skill development and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for local youth in a region with limited job prospects. The programme has enrolled 25 participants, focusing on empowering unemployed and underprivileged youth by equipping them with essential carpentry and artisan skills that align with market demands.
Training sessions are conducted daily by skilled professionals, blending theoretical knowledge with practical experience in craftsmanship. The structured curriculum places an emphasis on technical skills, innovation, and entrepreneurship, which are crucial for participants to successfully seek employment or start their own businesses. Participants will learn how to create various items, such as furniture and household goods, enabling them to generate income through local market sales and decreasing their reliance on seasonal labor.
The local context of Humine Thana, which faces significant economic challenges, makes this training particularly vital for fostering self-reliance. By providing the youth with the necessary skills, the programme seeks to mitigate migration in search of jobs while allowing participants to make meaningful contributions to their families and communities.
Officials and personnel involved with Assam Rifles have reiterated that Operation Sadbhavana is dedicated to welfare-focused initiatives that encompass healthcare, education, and skill development. This training initiative is a testament to Assam Rifles’ commitment to building strong community relationships while promoting empowerment, socio-economic growth, and the overall development of the nation.
