The first-ever “Manipur Border Trail Run 1.0” was organized by Assam Rifles under Operation Sadbhavana at Chakpikarong Football Ground, drawing an enthusiastic response from the region. The event brought together communities from remote border villages and beyond, reflecting a growing passion for endurance sports and the spirit of unity in Manipur’s border areas. Around 2,200 people gathered at the venue, with 1,250 participants taking part in the race. The event featured three race categories: the 14 km “Tuiyang Grizzly Grind,” the 8 km “Tuiyang Deer Dash,” and the 5 km “Chakpi Rabbit Run,” open to men, women, seniors, and children.
The event was spirited, with performances from Kh. Zabed Hussain in the men’s 14 km in 53 minutes 30 seconds, Baby Veineiting Baite in the women’s category in 1 hour 21 minutes, and Md Rahish Khan in the 8 km race. The 5 km category saw Md Areeb, Sinruwng Ningshinghring, WS Thumison Anal, and Kharin Vashum emerge winners in their respective groups.
48 others were awarded medals by the DIG Assam Rifles, including categories reserved for Assam Rifles personnel, while podium finishers received prizes worth over ₹2 lakhs. Every participant was recognized with mementos, underscoring the inclusive spirit of the event. The closing Gala Ceremony featured vibrant cultural performances, Jazz and Pipe Band displays, and a special appearance by MFN Bantamweight Champion Mr. Chungreng Koren, “The Indian Rhino,” who inspired the youth with his journey.
