Imphal East district witnessed a troubling incident today, February 13, 2024, as armed miscreants initiated firing in the general area of Khamanlok ridge, spanning across Saibol heights, Gwaltabi, and Semol. Promptly responding to the alert, security forces swiftly mobilized to contain the situation.
At approximately 11:30 am, the confrontation escalated, resulting in an Indian Army Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) sustaining a gunshot wound to his right calf. The injured JCO was part of the security forces’ coordinated response effort. Following the incident, immediate evacuation measures were undertaken, with the injured officer airlifted to the Military Hospital in Leimakhong Military Station via helicopter.
Fortunately, his condition is reported as stable, providing a semblance of relief amidst the tense circumstances. Security forces continue to exert control and maintain a dominant presence in the affected area, ensuring the safety and security of the surrounding areas.
