The All-Manipur Gorkha Students’ Union (AMGSU) expressed significant dissatisfaction with an incident that took place on the first day of the Higher Secondary Examination (HSE), organized by the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur. In a press release, AMGSU articulated regret over the disruptions that occurred during this critical academic period, emphasizing that any mismanagement adversely impacts students’ mental preparedness and overall performance. The union called for a thorough investigation into the incident and urged authorities to implement corrective measures to prevent future occurrences.

AMGSU also encouraged students to adhere strictly to established norms and guidelines to preserve the integrity of the examinations. Students are expected to maintain discipline, follow examination rules diligently, and cooperate with teachers, invigilators, and officials present at the examination venues.

Furthermore, as the Higher Secondary Examinations continue and with Board Examinations beginning on February 23, AMGSU made a plea to local villages, clubs, religious institutions, and event organizers to avoid using loudspeakers and high-volume sound systems during this examination period. A quiet environment is critical for students’ focus and performance. The union emphasized the importance of public cooperation in maintaining silence during study and examination hours. AMGSU remains dedicated to protecting students’ academic interests while fostering discipline, mutual respect, transparency, and fairness in all academic matters.

The release also noted that there was tension at the Wabagai Higher Secondary School examination center in Kakching district due to reports of some students allegedly tearing and burning answer scripts, attendance sheets, and admit cards on the first day of examinations.
