Air India Express has unveiled a robust winter schedule with a significant boost to its operations from Imphal. The airline has added 20 new weekly flights, bringing the total to 34 flights per week, marking a substantial increase in services. This expansion underlines Air India Express’s commitment to strengthening connectivity in the Northeast.
In addition to the Imphal boost, the airline has also ramped up its operations from Kolkata with 160 weekly flights. This includes new direct routes to Port Blair and Indore, alongside enhanced connectivity to several other major cities. The increased operations come as part of the airline’s wider strategy to expand its network by 30% this winter, with over 400 daily flights scheduled across India and international routes.
In Imphal, this increase in flight frequency is expected to drive economic growth and bolster tourism. The added services will provide better access for travelers, fostering trade, tourism, and business connectivity. The direct flights to Kolkata and Guwahati, along with one-stop connectivity to cities like Chennai, Delhi, and Bengaluru, are anticipated to further integrate Imphal into the national and international air travel network, positioning it as a critical gateway in the Northeast.
