The Coordination Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) condemned an armed attack in Torbung, Bishnupur district, citing it as a violation of constitutional rights and a threat to public safety. The incident, involving gunfire and explosives by suspected Kuki militants on December 16, instilled panic among residents. COCOMI stated that such violence undermines the Right to Life under Article 21 of the Constitution and public order. They criticized remarks by Kuki-Zo Council leader Ginza Vualzong for justifying the attack, warning that such endorsements could incite further unrest. COCOMI urged immediate legal action, a transfer of the investigation to a senior team, enhanced security in vulnerable areas, and a transparent action report, stressing that inaction could lead to more violence and community alienation. They reaffirmed their commitment to peace and human rights in Manipur.
