The Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA), in collaboration with the High Court Legal Services Committee (HCLSC) and District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs), successfully conducted the first National Lok Adalat of 2026 across all District Courts and the High Court of Manipur. Justice M. Sundar, the Chief Justice and Patron-in-Chief of MASLSA, and Justice A. Bimol Singh, Executive Chairman of MASLSA, conducted inspections at various court complexes during the event.

Justice Sundar noted a significant increase in the number of cases—6,082 in total—listed for resolution compared to the previous session in December 2025. The cases encompassed a wide range, including Original Suits, Money Suits, Bank Recovery cases, Matrimonial disputes, MACT cases, and other civil matters. Public participation was emphasized as crucial to the success of this ADR initiative, with acknowledgments given to the media and legal professionals for raising awareness about the benefits of Lok Adalat.

During the event, Justice Sundar awarded Lok Adalat Awards to participants who successfully resolved their disputes, highlighting the exemplary contributions of banks and micro-finance institutions that provided waivers of up to 80% on claims. A total of 311 cases were successfully resolved, resulting in an aggregate settlement amount of Rs. 3,34,82,451.

The Lok Adalat involved numerous judges serving as chairpersons across four benches at the Lamphel Court Complex, including District & Sessions Judges from Imphal West and East, and also included contributions from various advocates and civil judges. The Chairman of the National Lok Adalat Bench at the High Court of Manipur was Ojesh Mutum, the Registrar General, with the goal of extending the reach of Lok Adalat services to more individuals for efficient dispute resolution. Member Secretary Alek Muivah urged the media to promote Lok Adalat opportunities for wider public access.
