Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh announced a budget provision of Rs. 350 crores in the upcoming budget to support women affected by recent unrest in Manipur, benefiting 3.5 lakh women. This announcement was made during the International Women’s Day 2026 celebration in Imphal under the theme “Rights, Justice, Action for All Women and Girls.” The Chief Minister highlighted the significant roles Manipuri women have played in the state’s history and economy. MLA Sagolshem Kebi Devi emphasized the importance of women being aware of government schemes and constitutional rights to combat discrimination. Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel, who delivered the presidential speech, recognized women’s invaluable contributions to society. The event included an audio-visual presentation on Mission Shakti, aimed at ensuring women’s safety, security, and economic empowerment. During the celebration, the Chief Minister honored notable women such as weightlifter Nameirakpam Kunjarani Devi and folk singer Mangka Mayanglambam. Additionally, Chief Minister Khemchand assessed healthcare services at the Urban Primary Health Centre, Singjamei, committing to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and ensure quality medical care access for all citizens.
